Biriyani - FDFS Tamil Movie Review

Biriyani sounds way too exciting in theory, the Venkat Prabhu clan, Karthi, Hansika, Ramki; all the ingredients you'd look for in a perfect movie.  But in execution it falls short. From the outset, we are offered a variety of entertaining factors to savor but somehow we are lost in all the game play.

The story starts from the time Karthi and Premji begin their escape and traverses into a flashback. The not-so-convincing tale of the tale behind their escape is revealed. In the later half of the story, the scenes are exceedingly dramatic and filmy. By the time the film ends, you've pretty much witnessed every clichéd scene in the history of Tamil cinema.

Karthi plays his part to the T. Premji acts, annoys and turns insignificant in a very significant role. Hansika looks pretty; smiles, cries (sans tears! surprisingly) and that's what was expected of her we guess. There are a host of veterans from the Venkat Prabhu clan donning on small roles, including Jai, Vijayalakshmi et al. Uma riyaz was our pick for this movie as an outstanding performer.

It's certainly not a movie that you shouldn't miss. We'd say this movie is high on masala quotient but low on story and logic. Venkat Prabhu would rather be remembered for Chennai 28 or Saroja. He's been amping up the skin show meter from one movie to the other and in Biriyani it is way over the limit that family audiences can gut. We recommend the Venkat Prabhu diet for the younger audiences only.
